The weather was windy so I couldn't do yard cleanup, but I could spend the day quilting!
I put a focused effort into finishing the Paint Drips My Way quilt top as it is for a friend who is graduating in about 2 weeks. The top went together nicely, I took pictures, then I noticed a mistake and had to do some modifications :D All is good now, and the quilt top is lovely! Photos available: https://flic.kr/s/aHskxHx7GN It became unseasonably warm a few weeks ago (its actually been an awesome winter - relatively warm, relatively light on snow, short).
I've been getting the garden cleaned up so that I can see the plants coming up - tulips, garlic, and primrose are up and going at it! I started my indoor tomatoes and peppers as well as some french shallots. The shallots went crazy fast - so now I need to figure out whether I can plant them out without the getting frozen. I think I'll be safe :D I hammered through the Bees in the garden top, it looks lovely!
I had intended it to stay just log cabin, but ran out of the light colour. I had to improvise and I think I did quite well :D Additional pics are on Flickr: Bees in he Garden I bought some ombre fabric and it seemed like it would make a beautify paint drips style quilt (similar visuals to A Quilters Mixology by Angela Pingel).
I did some sketches of what I wanted to do, came up with a few extra layers, then started cutting out the pieces, had to re-imagine a few areas because I only had a half yard of each colour. It isn't as perfect as I'd like - a few don't quite follow the color fading because I couldn't fit the shapes into the 1/2 yard but it was sooooooo close. I've gotten about half way through the piecing, it looks wonderful so far! Other pictures are up on Flickr: Paint Drips My Way |
