Tiling continued merrily until we ran out of mortar; and we're waiting for the specialty bull nose tile for the window surround. Only supremely irritating cuts left to go - angles all over the place thanks to the oddity of basement bathrooms :)
It is looking pretty nice so far! Fairly proud of the progress over the last few days. Planning to go with a glass door - currently the leader is the Aston Nautis door - it has shelves that are part of the structural support which makes me giggle and solves a shelving lack :) I'm making progress on a bunch of small things! Block of the month, September and October :) A small lap quilt using some cute fabrics! And making some plans to tile the shower!
I was trying to tidy up and figure out how many things I have on the go so I can finish some of them (again). Turns out I have a lot of them! I'll be trying to catch up on a bunch of these items, currently trying to identify which I have all materials for, and which I need materials for - so I can finish the ones that are ready to go!
I appear to have (L to R, Top to Bottom):
We were down helping the in-laws with their house again this weekend, and got the sheathing done for most of the house, it is starting to look nice and house shaped!
Winter settled in yesterday evening and over today, so we are likely done the amount we could get done until spring shows up next year. Monday, I got a surprise when Sparrow Studioz called to say that the quilt I had left there was completed. I had made a quilt for the in-laws for their new house. It is huge, and I wasn't going to be able to do it justice on my home machine, nor am I practiced enough on a long arm to get it done as precisely, so I left it to get custom quilted. Given very minimal info (Dutch theme with tulips in there somewhere), the ladies at Sparrow Studioz finished the quilting for me, and the quilt is gorgeous! It apparently caused her to stay awake at night for a few days, but she came up with a plan. I especially love the border they added around the star and echoed at the edge of the border. I still have to bury the stitches and bind the quilt, but it is looking AMAZING! We spent the weekend helping Jesse's parents get their new house walls up! Things have been coming along quickly on their house, footings, foundation, plumbing, and floor slab have all gone in since September.
The weather has continued to hold out, so Andrew spent most of the last two weeks pre-fabricating the walls, and the erection went very quickly this weekend. We had half the walls up after four hours effort on Saturday, the remainder of the walls and two main beams in place on Sunday, and got some of the floor joists in place by the time we had to head home and the snow storm rolled in. Overall a lot of fun and lots of hammering! |
