The friends who wanted a housewarming quilt have a birthday this week, so I'm trying to get their quilt design sorted out, and I collected some sample fabrics last time I was at the store (metallic shades).
A few mornings ago it was nice and fluffy snowing. It made the yard look very pretty with its winter blossoms. I snapped a few pictures before heading to work in the morning (the no sunlight makes it kind of sad - I was heading to work early, but not THAT early).
In the last post, this was a box of stuff.... I pulled myself together and go this one done. It has been part finished as it wasn't as easy to do as the ruler promises (all sorts of issues with misalignment after the fact because the final true up relies on you putting the ruler target points "near 2" and 8"" and then your points don't match up). You don't notice from far away, but up close it is irritating.
If anyone else is doing these quick curve ruler quilts, a sharpie or sticker for your target point would be very helpful to make sure you are doing a reproducible true up. Because it was so irritating, I stopped at a 3x3 finished set of blocks (was supposed to be 3x4). I'll up size with borders or make it into a baby or charity quilt for the finished quilt. The pictures don't do it justice, but the interlocking circles are dark pink fading to pink/green, and dark blue fading to blue/green. It is very subtle in person, the picture washes it out. I was trying to tidy up and figure out how many things I have on the go so I can finish some of them (again). Turns out I have a lot of them! I'll be trying to catch up on a bunch of these items, currently trying to identify which I have all materials for, and which I need materials for - so I can finish the ones that are ready to go!
I appear to have (L to R, Top to Bottom):
I completed the surprise quilt top (or at least the base of it until I decide how much to up-size it)!
I bought some solids at Marshall's Fabrics today, and that allowed this top to get finished. |
